 UdaRadella SLBC VHF Relay Station David Buel – Director Engineer was the founder of Radella SLBC VHF-Relay Station Radella VHF Station was put-up in 1967 in a location, surrounded by Udaradella Seed Potato Farm in Kikiliyamana mountain range, 7350 ft above Sea level, having line-of-site to Colombo as well as most of the other important areas in Srilanka. The main objective of the station is to receive Colombo Sinhala national Service and relay to Weeraketiya, Maho [Balalla] and Anuradhapura Medium wave broadcasting stations. Sinhala National Service on 107MHz Transmission using a wide-band Marconi Antenna system powered by a 10Watt Marconi Translator, kept inside a small hut covered with Aluminum sheets. but the service area later on expanded to serve Galle [Hapugala] , Ampara [Samanthurei], Jaffna [Mandathiv] and Ambewela with additional two-250W Phillips Transmitters to provide Sinhala Ch1 & Sinhala Ch2 and Educational Service. SLBC Communication Repeaters were set up in Radella station for Colombo to communicate with other regional stations. In addition Outside Broadcast links were installed to link live-outside-broadcast-channels to Colombo VHF room. New Transmitter-Hall was constructed in Radella with a Powerful 250KVA Generator to facilitate more powerful 1kw R&S and Mc-Martin-VHF Transmitters to provide service to newly build medium wave broadcasting stations.
